Although this "Image Guru" generally doesn't dabble in politics or political debates, (I leave that up to those more capable), I do have a brain and a very specific, yet heartfelt, stance on the whole "Ground Zero Mosque" debate...... and that is....... WHY THERE????
I fundamentally believe that all "American Citizens' have their "Inalienable Right" to practice "Religious Freedom", to worship whom, what and where they choose, however, did I miss something here???? Was September 11th a dream and did not many innocent people perish needlessly, only a few blocks from this proposed Mosque site??? YES, THEY DID! Do I personally blame the Islamic faith, or any of the wonderful Muslim friends whom I have had the pleasure to meet and share many special moments of my life?? NO I DON'T!
But why I ask, is it soooo imperative and necessary to choose that particular site? Why cannot the powers that be, namely the Imam, that Developer, our dear Mayor Bloomberg (whom I respect immensely) and even our President, (whom I also respect immensely) not understand the pain, resentment, and sheer anger, that many families of the victims do obviously harbor.... and if they do understand this, why can't they simply urge the Mosque to be moved, simply out of respect for the families of those perished victims. Will this action somehow show the world that America will not waiver its committment to our Constitutional freedoms and will let "terrorism" prevail..... well I say, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH! Tell that to a child, who may have just been an infant at the time, who lost his or her father or mother! I believe in tolerance and healing, but not at the expense of insensitivity.
Sometimes, wisdom is not doing the right thing, but doing the thing that makes things right!
